Javan Smith Hand Built 1/8 scale model of Fangio’s W196
A fantastic hand built model by renowned British model maker, Javan Smith and featuring the Mercedes-Benz W196 of Juan Manuel Fangio. This 1/8 scratch built scale model is fashioned on the car used by Fangio at Aintree in 1955 for the R.A.C. British Grand Prix.
This superb model measures approximately 20” and sits on a purpose built base with Perspex cover, measuring 23” x 10.5” overall.
The British Grand Prix of 1955 was the race that even Stirling Moss wonders whether Fangio gifted him the victory at Aintree. No one will ever know, but it did produce a memorable 1-2-3-4 finish for Daimler Benz AG, with Fangio crossing the line a quarter of a second behind Moss. This model is in very good order and has been part of the JARROTTS collection for over twenty-five years.
