Carved Wooden Model, based on Raymond Mays six wheel ERA

A beautiful hand crafted solid wood model, measuring approximately 9.5” x 5” and loosely based on the ERA six wheel special, as driven by Raymond Mays when he recaptured the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb record in 1935.

This model sits on a carved angled base measuring 12” x 6.5” overall.

Raymond Mays was one of the principal people behind the development of the motor racing stables of English Racing Automobiles (ERA) and British Racing Motors (BRM). He was a renowned hill climb expert winning the British Hill Climb Championship in the first two years, 1947 and 1948 and also the Brighton Speed Trials in 1946, ’47, ’48, ’49 and ’50. He also completed in pre-war Grand Prix, but had most success in the Voiturette class.
