Kurt Thiim DTM Race Used Helmet
This Kurt Thiim helmet was race used during the 1992 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season. Here he finished a close second in the championship to arch rival Klaus Ludwig, winning the opening two races before ’King Klaus’ went on a roll. He won the DTM in his debut year driving a Rover Vitesse, before graduating to an Alfa Romeo 75 Turbo and BMW M3. He is best known for his expoits in Mercedes touring cars, driving the 190E 2.3-16, 190E 2.5-16 Evo, 190E 2.5-16 Evo2, 190E2.5-16 93 and finally the C-Class V6.
This open face helmet has been painted by MRC Design and was signed to the rear of the helmet, in person at the Nurburgring.
Kurt was born in Vojens, Denmark, the Father of Nicki who currently races GT and Le Mans cars. Following his successful tin top career in Germany, Kurt raced at Le Mans in 1991 in the grumbling C11 with Jonathan Palmer and Stanley Dickens. When he retired from the touring car racing in Germany he returned to his home country and won the Danish Touring Car Title in 1991.
