Nigel Mansell F1 Race Used & Signed Helmet
This Nigel Mansell helmet, made by Arai, was race used during the 1989 season and in particular at the non-Tobacco rounds held France and England. At these races ‘Il Leone’ finished second on both occasions, driving for Scuderia Ferrari in the gorgeous Ferrari 640. 1989 was his debut year for the Scuderia and he famously won first time out at the Brazilian Grand Prix held at Jacarepagua. He went to the podium a further five times, but suffered from too many DNF’s, resulting in a fourth place in the Championship.
The helmet was hand painted by Mike Fairholme and has been signed on the crown prominently by Nigel.
Nigel won the Formula One World Championship in 1992, winning a total of thirty-one races, before heading Stateside. For the 1993 season, Mansell won the CART Championship and finished third at the Indy 500.
